Changes to HMRC Submission Security

We would like to inform you of a change to HMRC's submissions process relating to legacy Windows Operating Systems.

HMRC has updated their security protocols. This prevents submission packages that utilise older encryption methods from being accepted. This may also be the case if the documents to be submitted have been exported from an unsupported environment.

How this affects you

If you or your hosted service is using Windows 8.1 or earlier, Server 2012/2012R2 or earlier - you may find that you are unable to submit to HMRC. All HMRC submission solutions are affected, including the following Digita programs but we strongly advise treating the entire Digita Suite as at risk.

  • Digita Personal, Business and Trust Tax
  • Digita Corporation Tax
  • Digita Corporation Tax Advanced
  • Digita Accounts Production Advanced

Actions to be taken

Please ensure you are using a supported version of Windows OS and Server as per our published Minimum Hardware and Software Requirements

To find out which version of Windows your device is running, press the Windows logo key + R, type winver in the Open box, and then select OK.

Or

Select the Start button > Setting > System > About.

Digita Virtual Office

Our cloud hosted suite of Digita products (Digita Virtual Office) always uses fully supported operating system versions and so is not affected by this HMRC change. This also provides an alternative to needing you update your own operating systems or Servers, if you would like to discuss this further please contact your Account Manager.
